General
Most places have free wifi.
Drinking water comes from the mountains and is therefore actually of good quality, but the pipes are often so outdated that we do not recommend drinking tap water directly from the faucet. However, it is safe for cooking and washing.
Arrival
There are now 3 airports on Crete. Chania, Heraklion and Sitia. For the south the airport of the capital Iraklio is best. The trip will take you (new road/2019) about 50 minutes. Cabs costs about 70 €, so it is worth to take a rental car (from 20 €/day). Therefor we can give you tips on the best and cheapest car rentals.
In our experience, the best flight search engine is http://swoodoo.com.
Health
There is now a pharmacy in every village. The medications might have a different name. If you know the ingredients, however, you can usually get the product you want (usually much cheaper than in other countries).
There are doctors and a small hospital for emergencies in Mires. For more serious illnesses, the hospitals in Heraklion are responsible. EU-health-card will be accepted.
You do not need any special vaccinations for Greece. Tetanus and Hepatitis A vaccinations are only recommended.
